Sam AdamsonSamuel Adamson’s plays include: Southwark Fair (National Theatre); Mrs Affleck (after Ibsen; National Theatre); Fish and Company (Soho Theatre/ National Youth Theatre); Clocks and Whistles (Bush Theatre, Time Out award); Drink, Dance, Laugh and Lie (Bush Theatre/Channel 4); Grace Note (Peter Hall Company/Old Vic Theatre); Some Kind of Bliss (Trafalgar Studios and Brits Off Broadway, New York); Tomorrow Week (BBC Radio 3); Boston Manor (Theatre Voice/Theatre 503) and All About My Mother (from Almodóvar; Old Vic; Whatsonstage Theatregoers’ Choice Best New Play, 2007). In 2005 he contributed to the 24 Hour Plays (Old Vic) and in 2007 to A Chain Play (Almeida Theatre). Adaptations include: Chekhov’s The Cherry Orchard (Oxford Stage Company/Riverside Studios); Three Sisters (OSC/Whitehall Theatre); Schnitzler’s Professor Bernhardi (Arcola Theatre; also adapted for Radio 3); Bernhard Studlar’s Vienna Dreaming (National Theatre Studio); Ibsen’s A Doll’s House (Southwark Playhouse); and Pillars of the Community (National Theatre). Film includes Running for River (Directional Studios/Krug).Samuel Adamson is currently collaborating with songwriter Tori Amos on the musical The Light Princess. He was writer in residence at the Bush Theatre in 1997-8, and his plays are published by Faber and Faber.
