
Anna has most recently been seen on international screens in Brad Silberling's Land of the Lost for Universal Pictures opposite Will Ferrell and Danny McBride (2009) and as the adorable Chuck in the critically acclaimed US drama series Pushing Daisies (2007-2009) for ABC, for which Anna received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress in Television Series in 2008. Pushing Daisies also received a Golden Globe Nomination for Best Drama and People's Choice Award for Favorite New TV Comedy. UK viewers will also have caught Anna's moving performance in the latest series of Jimmy McGovern's multi-award winning television drama The Street (2009) which has included stars such as Bob Hoskins, Timothy Spall, Jim Broadbent, Danny Mayes, and Anna's long term partner and father of her daughter Gracie, David Thewlis. Upcoming releases for 2010 for Anna include: Academy Award-winning William Monahan's London Boulevard starring opposite Colin Farrell and Keira Knightley (she will play Farrell's sister) and Woody Allen's next (as yet untitled) picture alongside Naomi Watts, Josh Brolin, Anthony Hopkins and Antonio Banderas. Born in Rochdale, Lancashire, Anna joined the Oldham Theatre Workshop in 1989 and performed in numerous theatre productions across England. She made her Broadway debut in Patrick Marber's Closer, alongside Ciaran Hinds, Rupert Graves and Natasha Richardson and her performance garnered a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Featured Actress in a Play and a Special Achievement Award for an Ensemble Performance. She also starred in the Almeida Theatre productions Look Europe! and Lulu at the Almeida, for which she received the Helen Hayes Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in 2002. Anna began her television career at a young age after being cast on the BBC series In Their Shoes, she went on to star in Alan Bleasdale's critically acclaimed miniseries G.B.H. and received the National Television Award for Best Actress for her role as Beth Jordache in the popular series Brookside. Additionally, her depiction of Bella Wilfer opposite Steven Mackintosh in the Charles Dickens UK mini-series Our Mutual Friend was well received. Her other television credits include a starring role on Barry Levinson's US courtroom drama for Fox, The Jury, the CBS romantic comedy film Perfect Strangers opposite Rob Lowe and the UK series Watermelon with Brenda Fricker, Fields of Gold, and The Tribe opposite Joely Richardson and Jeremy Northam. Anna's other film credits include: Bathory, Goal!, Goal II: Living the Dream, Rubbish (for Live Earth), Niagara Motel, Irish Jam, Timeline, Me Without You, The War Bride for which she was nominated for a Genie Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role, An Everlasting Piece, Sunset Strip, Rogue Trader opposite Ewan McGregor, A Midsummer Night's Dream opposite Kevin Kline and Michelle Pfeiffer, The Stringer and The Land Girls opposite Rachel Weisz and Catherine McCormack. Anna was the face of a hugely successful campaign for Pantene Pro-V in the UK in 2006.
